This Star Wars Prequel Actor Would Return To The Franchise In A Heartbeat
With the advent of new Star Wars movies, combined with the fact that they won't be limiting themselves to only making sequels, the possibilities of who might be joining the franchise are essentially limitless. Of course, it also means that just about anybody could be coming back. One famous (some might say infamous) Star Wars actor who would actually love to come back is Anakin Skywalker himself, Hayden Christensen. While fans don't necessarily look back on the actor's time with the franchise fondly, he apparently does, and would return if asked.
Following his work on the Star Wars prequels, Hayden Christensen basically disappeared from Hollywood. While he's never really stopped acting, with the exception of 2008's Jumper, the actor's film choices have been on the much smaller side of things. However, in an interview with etalk in Canada, from late last year, before Star Wars: The Force Awakens was actually released, the actor says that if he were ever asked to reprise his role, he wouldn't hesitate to do it.
When Hayden Christensen faded into the background following Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, many assumed he was done with big budget movie making. Now, it sounds like he could be tempted back, although it's possible he might only do this for Star Wars, due to what the franchise did for his career. It's honestly good to hear that Christensen remembers his time on Star Wars fondly. Regardless of what most fans might think of the prequels, it would totally suck if he spent years working on those movies and now hated everything about them. If making them was still fun, at least he got something out of them.
A rumor from last year, just before the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, actually claimed that Rian Johnson had plans for Hayden Christensen in Star Wars: Episode VIII. This interview was recorded prior to the rumor, so it's barely possible that there's actually something here. The Force Awakens made just short of zero references to the prequels at all, so bringing back younger Anakin as either a Force ghost or as part of some kind of flashback or vision would be a pretty significant shift. Still, we shouldn't discount the possibility completely.
Would you like to see Hayden Christensen make a return to the Star Wars franchise? How do you think he could be used? Let us know in the comments.
