The Rock And His Baywatch Cast Wish Us A Happy Fourth In The Most Baywatch Way Ever
Everybody is going to celebrate the Fourth of July in their own particular way. It's not a competition to see who can celebrate "better." But if it was, the cast of the new Baywatch movie would have won. We don't know where this barbecue is happening, but we know we want to go there right now.
The cast outfits, shown off in this Instagram post on The Rock's feed, are not only fitting considering the holiday, but they also appear to be the official costumes for the film. As you'll remember, a photo that The Rock posted a few months ago implied that the Baywatch movie will be ditching the orange swimsuits made famous on the television series for red and blue suits. Sure enough, the latest look at Rocky and Zac Efron shows them wearing the same trunks in this image as they were in that previous image. This suggests that the ladies in this image, including Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach, are also seen here in the outfits they'll be wearing in the movie.
The Rock, as per usual, looks like he could bench press a truck. Even in the giant Uncle Sam hat we really don't want to mess with him. The sparklers in his hands do nothing to make him look more friendly. Though to distract ourselves from thinking about how those sparklers could set an enemy compound on fire, we have to ask, has Zac Efron made a movie in the last three years that didn't involve him taking his shirt off?
We know that the Baywatch film is aiming to be an action/comedy, as opposed to being the straight drama/jiggle-fest of the original series. The plan appears to be an attempt to capture the magic of something like the 21 Jump Street films. While The Rock has found most of his success from the straight action movies, like the most recent Fast and Furious films, his newest movie, Central Intelligence, has been doing respectfully well at the box office. With the hypothesis that audiences will watch The Rock do pretty much anything proven well, Baywatch seems destined to ride the wave of success.
If there's a wild card in Baywatch to look out for, it may be Jon Bass. He's a relative newcomer to Hollywood, with only a couple other movies and cable shows under his belt at this point. This hasn't stopped Dwayne Johnson from backing him though, as he certifies in his Fourth of July post that Bass will "steal the show" in the movie next year. Whether The Rock is using a common phrase, or really believes it, we'll have to wait and see. All we have to go by here is the profile of a guy stuffing his face with a hot dog, as well as the "dad bod" post we've shown you above.
With almost a year to wait to finally see the Baywatch movie. it will be awhile before we really know whether this franchise reboot is worth it. Are you looking forward to hitting the beach next summer with Baywatch or is this one going to need CPR to keep from drowning? Let us know what you think in the comments. In the meantime, we'll be counting the days to May 19, 2017, more often than we count the abs on The Rock's impressive chest.
