Star-Lord Takes Center Stage In Guardians 2 Behind The Scenes Image
With so many superheroic movies hitting theaters this summer, it's easy to forget about the myriad others which are currently in production (unless you work at Cinema Blend, that is). But with DC's Suicide Squad finishing up the summer superhero block on August 5th, we must start looking to the future, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe has a slate of films to continue their Phase Three. One of these is the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, starring the original cast of Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper.
Director and writer James Gunn, who is essentially the grand poobah of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, is always particularly active on social media to continue hyping up the next entry. He most recently shared a behind the scenes image which contains none other than everyone's favorite smuggler/hero Peter Quill aka Star-Lord. Check it out below.
This image is pretty exciting, showing Chris Pratt's Star-Lord presumably getting ready for his next adventure or scuffle. Of course, James Gunn's true intentions are abundantly clear with the text in the image, reminding us the exact amount of days that stand between us and all of the hilarious and action-packed misadventures of the motley crew.
Guardians of the Galaxy was one of the sleeper hits of 2014. Rather than being based around an incredibly popular Marvel superhero, like the members of The Avengers, James Gunn brought some of the lesser known characters to life. And since there were far fewer expectations going into the film, moviegoers and comic book fans alike were pleasantly surprised by the unique tone, as well as the traditional action, which was featured in the original film. In particular, the use of comedy and lighter tone has been praised, with the MCU head honchos attempting to make more use of comedy in future endeavors like Thor: Ragnarok.
Featuring the comedic chops of Parks and Rec alum Chris Pratt and John C. Reilly, as well as acting greats like Glenn Close and Bradley Cooper, Guardians of the Galaxy made itself a home in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and has been regarded as one of the best films in the entire 13 movie catalogue.
Check out this video showing off the first film's funniest moments, and try not to get excited for the sequel. We dare you.
Seriously, 300 days is just too long to wait for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
