While Vin Diesel has found a near-permanent home in the franchise that originally made him a star, he's not turning his back on all his other films that we love. The first trailer for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is close, and while the new teaser doesn't show much, we like everything we see. We still have wait a couple of days to see the first full trailer for Vin Diesel's return to the xXx franchise, but until then we can watch this teaser on an eternal loop. How many times can you watch 10 seconds in two days?
At all of 11 seconds long, with only about five seconds that aren't the movie's logo, this teaser trailer for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage doesn't show us much, but it does cram as much as possible into those brief seconds. Vin Diesel doing motorcycle stunts, kicking somebody's ass in a couple of separate fight sequences, and wearing an awfully nice coat that you really requires that you look like Vin Diesel if you want to pull it off.
Vin Diesel says it all, "Damn, it feels good to be back." Fans of the original xXx are likely watching the trailer for saying the same thing. It's been 14 years since the actor starred as Xander Cage in the original film. While the movie was a hit, Diesel was unable to return for a sequel, which resulted in an attempt to spin off the franchise with xXx: State of the Union, featuring Ice Cube in the lead role. That film didn't do nearly as well, leading to the brand sitting dormant until now.
While Vin Diesel is returning, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is looking like more of a team effort than it is a starring vehicle for the action hero. Ice Cube will also be back to reprise his role from the second film, and the movie will also feature a strong supporting ensemble backing them up (similar to the support he gets in the Fast & Furious titles). Everybody from Jet Li to Ruby Rose to Toni Colette will part of the cast. Samuel L. Jackson will also be back, returning to his role from both previous xXx films.
We're looking forward to seeing the full trailer for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage when it hits in a couple of days - and you can be sure you'll find it here when it goes live. We're expecting a lot more action, from many more great actors, and hopefully more great costume choices. We certainly hope that Vin Diesel didn't hog the entire wardrobe for himself.
