Watch Brie Larson Announced As Captain Marvel At The Hall H Panel
Ever since the Captain Marvel movie was announced, fans have been wondering what actress might be taking the mantle for the character's silver screen debut. The actress most talked about in relation to the hero was Room actress and Academy Award winner Brie Larson.
And now it appears that those rumors were right, as it was announced at this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con that Larson would indeed be joining the Marvel family. This announcement was actually caught on video, check it out below.
I mean, come on. This reveal was about as exciting as Marvel could have possibly made it. Good job, folks.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is an ever expanding place. With phases of the MCU lasting years at a time, we can expect to see new characters being introduced with each addition. And because Marvel has been producing such high-quality films with dynamic characters, some seriously amazing acting talent has been attracted to the world of super powers and tights. With the Universe including 13 films with a handful more on the way, Marvel has been able to use some of the lesser known heroes from the comics for solo adventures, like Captain Marvel.
Brie Larson's casting as Captain Marvel happened at the tail end of Marvel Studios' panel at San Diego Comic-Con. As the panel came to a close, Chris Hardwick attempted to get the coolest selfie in the history of selfies- containing a massive amount of MCU actors. It is then that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige takes to the mic to stop the action. If a Marvel family picture was going to be taken, he wanted to make sure that the newest addition was included. It was at that moment that Brie Larson was announced as Captain Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel. The hall basically exploded with thunderous applause, and we can't say we blame anyone for their excited reaction.
While Brie Larson keeps it calm, cool, and collected as she enters the stage, she quickly gives into the excitement of the moment, ending up looking like a contestant who was asked to "come on down" on The Price Is Right.
Isn't that the type of reaction you want from a new superhero? I think so.

She's basically got superpowers that are similar to that of DC's Superman, so get ready for some awesome action sequences when Captain Marvel hits theaters in 2019.
