Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Image Shows Yondu’s New Look
While everyone is gearing up to see a band of misfits take over the multiplex this weekend in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, let's not forget the crew of ruthless and amoral heroes that helped pave the way for such a film: the Guardians of the Galaxy. While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 isn't due out until next May, it's still as good a time as any to get an advanced look at one of its fan favorite characters, who just happens to be sporting a new look. Get a load of Yondu's new mug below.
Apparently, this first look has come out of an Instagram trend known as the #MarvelMovieChallenge, and Marvel's official profile dropped this photo as a recent entry. Though it should be no surprise that Michael Rooker himself inspired this choice, as he's keen to show off the new head gear that Yondu is sporting for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This new development should please fans of the comics, as the lead Ravager is back to wearing a more pronounced fin on his head for all to see.
While this photo is in black and white, those of you who attended San Diego Comic Con will remember that the fin is colored a darker shade of maroon, harkening back to the look of Yondu in his comic origins. Though don't expect his look to change completely, as it looks like Rooker's Ravager duds from the first film are more than present and accounted for. Though we must say, not only is this sneak peek at Michael Rooker's return for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 look pretty bad ass, the black and white nature of the photo also lends a sort of artistic nature to the image.
For comparison, you can see the comic incarnation of Yondu, red fin and all, in the Guardians of the Galaxy photo shared below.
Of course, looking at this new photo for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 may remind some of you, as it surely reminds some of us, that there's some prime footage that was screened for San Diego Comic Con attendees that the general public hasn't seen yet. Seeing as that footage not only features Yondu, but also won't be released into the clutches of the internet, any further details are a little harder to come by. But seeing the slightly evolved look of Peter Quill's on-again / off-again partner in crime has us hoping that we'll get a better look at Yondu, and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy crew sooner than later.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 drops the needle on May 5, 2017.
