Deadpool 2 May Have Found Its Cable and Domino, Here’s What We Know
The entertainment world is chock full of one thing at the moment: superhero properties. In both TV and film, comic book fans have been able to see their favorite DC and Marvel characters in live-action kicking some ass. But because so many superheroic projects are currently being consumed by audiences, they can sometimes blur together due to what is being referred to as "superhero fatigue". Of course, there are a few comic book movies that really break the mold and surprise the audience with their unique perspective and narrative. One of these is 20th Century Fox's Deadpool, which broke records when it hits theaters back in February. A sequel was quickly greenlit, leading fans to speculate as to who will be playing the role of Cable in Deadpool 2. Now it appears we may have that answer.
It is currently being rumored that Deadpool 2 is close to casting both Cable, and the X-Man Domino. According to Popcorn Talk, the name being most closely associated with Cable is Friday Night Lights actor Kyle Chandler. Additionally The Martian actress Mackenzie Davis is being eyed for the role of Domino.
This news is quite the departure from previous casting rumors. Since Cable was announced during Deadpool's post credit scene, fans have been debating as to who will play the futuristic mutant. Some names that have been thrown around include Dolph Lundgren, Stephen Lang, and of course Keira Knightley. Noticeably absent from all of the lists of possible Cables was Kyle Chandler, so if this rumor ends up being factual it could really blow some Marvel minds.
Additionally, I don't believe fans were expecting Domino to pop up in Deadpool 2. In the comics, Domino and Deadpool have quite the tumultuous relationship. In fact, Domino might be Deadpool's most serious romantic interest through his tenure in comics. But how would this work for the movie? The entire plot of the first Deadpool movie revolved around Wade Wilson getting rescuing Morena Baccarin's Vanessa. In the end, he got the girl despite his deformities, much to the joy of the audience. If Domino was to enter the narrative to sweep Deadpool off of his feet then basically the first movie was all for nothing.
