Hilarious Suicide Squad Video Rips The Movie To Shreds With A Few Very Simple Questions
Warning: spoilers for Suicide Squad are ahead!
Commercially, Suicide Squad has done well for itself over the last two weeks, hauling in over $466 million worldwide. Critically, on the other hand, it's endured a beating from many critics and comic book fans. While most of Suicide Squad's characters have been well received, there's been a lot of criticism directed towards the story, and one moviegoer decided to target this aspect of the third DCEU entry with a video called "Suicide Squad Sales Pitch," which asks "a few" logical questions about how this whole set-up works.
YouTuber Jenny Nicholson expressed her dissatisfaction with Suicide Squad by playing out a conversation between Amanda Waller and one of the people who just watched her presentation about the team of super villains. This unnamed government individual's queries range from why soldiers are being sent out into the field with the Squad is the team's existence is meant to keep soldiers from dying, to what's stopping Deadshot from killing Waller from detonating their micro bombs if he's such a good shot. Sprinkle in a few Boomerang and Slipknot digs, and you have a decent takedown of the movie. The whole thing caps off with Unnamed Government Individual suggesting to Waller she just build a team of superheroes that are powerful, but not dangerous to the public. Don't worry, Batman will have that covered next year with his League of Justice...or something along those lines.
"Suicide Squad Sales Pitch" definitely provided some good criticism towards Suicide Squad's plot with hilarious results. Frankly, I could see the real Amanda Waller responding to those questions in the same deadpan tone. The biggest addressed issue that comes to mind is why a team composed of a guy who shoots things, a crazy lady with a bat and the movie's other principal players would be sent to battle someone as powerful as Enchantress. However, we also have to remember that Waller didn't expect Enchantress to go rogue, so those Squad members were the only people she had on hand to get the job done quickly. Still, it would have been nice to see a few more powerhouses.
It's also worth noting that even if such a superhero team were to be created (and it will), they wouldn't comply with Amanda Waller's ruthless orders. That's why she has to build the Squad, and since metahumans and people with special skills are hard to come by, thats why she has to rely on the likes on of Killer Croc, Diablo, Deadshot and other notorious baddies she can leverage to do the dirty work. That said, Waller might want to find a way to prevent Deadshot from shooting her or anyone else the next time they try to detonate one of the micro bombs on the next mission.
Suicide Squad is now playing in theaters, and if you haven't already, let us know what you thought about the movie in the comments below.
