Watch Tom Holland Show Off Serious Gymnastics Skills On The Set Of Spider-Man: Homecoming
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is one that is chock full of interesting superheroic characters. And while there are tons of heroes in the MCU, not all of them are created equal. Sure, we all enjoy Ant-Man and his hijinks, but certain Marvel characters are vastly more popular than others. Case in point: Spider-Man. We were first introduced to Tom Holland's new interpretation of Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War, and since then we've been eager for his solo outing in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Luckily for us, Tom Holland is particularly active on social media, and has been teasing us with various images and videos from the set. And the latest in these posts is all about his acrobatic skills.
Tom Holland recently posted a video to his personal Instagram, which showed him learning an acrobatic routine that is straight out of a Spider-Man action sequence. Check out the awesomeness below.
Pretty awesome, right? Let's face it: Tom Holland IS Peter Parker, and this video is just proof that Marvel killed it when they discovered the dancer/actor.
The above video is one of many acrobatic Instagram posts that Tom Holland and company have posted since he began his adventure into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Holland represents a Spider-Man unlike any of his predecessors. To start, his age is far closer to Peter Parker's. Rather than an actor in his mid twenties, Holland is just 20 years old, and is therefore much more believable as a high school student turned vigilante.
Additionally, there is the fact that Tom Holland is quite the athlete, and can bring a physicality to Spider-Man which would normally be achieved through the use of a stunt performer. Throughout the filming of both Spider-Man: Homecoming and Captain America: Civil War, Holland regularly posted videos of himself performing some Spider-tastic acrobatic moves. And although most of Peter Parker's appearance in Civil War was while wearing his brand new costume, Spider-Man: Homecoming will presumably focus more on the young man underneath the mask. Peter Parker will hopefully have a fair amount of action sequences outside of costume, and Tom Holland will be able to pull it off himself.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will mark the character's official entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After becoming involved in the epic airport battle during Civil War, Peter Parker will have to adjust back to his life as a high school student, while also continuing his budding career in crime fighting. The cast is a diverse summation of strong actors including Michael Keaton, Donald Glover, Marisa Tomei, Tyne Daly, and Zendaya.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will fly into theater on July 7th, 2017.
