Watch Arnold Schwarzenegger's Son Recreate A Classic Terminator 2 Scene
Evidently being a Terminator runs in the family. Arnold Schwarzenegger has played the T-800 model in four movies over 30 years, and while other actor have gotten to play different models of these robotic killers, he remains the most famous of the bunch. Now Schwarzenegger's son, Joseph Baena, is getting into the Terminator business by recreating the biker scene from 1991's Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Check it out!
Directed by Ben Hess, this recreation kicks off directly after the T-800 has finished causing pandemonium at a nearby biker bar, tossing its violent patrons around and stealing the clothes off one of them. As GeorgeThorogood and the Destroyers' "Bad to the Bone" starts blasting, Baena's Terminator comes out, and while he's not as bulky as his dad was back in the day, he still looks impressive and intimidating. He even captures the same dead-eyed stare perfectly. Just like before, the bar's owner tries to stop the Terminator from stealing one of the motorcycles, a.k.a. "another man's wheels," but the techno-being from the future simply takes his shotgun and sunglasses away from him before riding off. The short ends there, but those who've seen the movie know that he's off to find and protect a young John Connor.
If you want to get a better sense of how accurate this Terminator 2: Judgement Day recreation is, compare it to the original biker bar scene below.
Aside from some minor differences in the bar setting and the crisper quality of the visuals, this is a very good fan recreation. It would have been cool to see the actual fight within the bar go down, but there's only so much that can be done without a massive movie budget. It definitely helps that Joseph Baena looks almost exactly like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Five years ago, Baena was revealed to be the son of Mildred Baena, the housekeeper who the former governor of California carried on an affair with for years while he was married to Maria Shriver. In the time since, the father and son have reportedly built a good relationship, so much so that the now 18-year-old Baena decided to tackle one of Schwarzenegger's most iconic roles.
While Terminator 2: Judgement Day will always remain a classic sci-fi movie, the Terminator franchise itself has fallen on hard times. Following Terminator Genisys earning mostly negative reviews last year, Terminator 6 has been put on hold. In the meantime, Arnold Schwarzenegger is keeping himself busy as the new host of Celebrity Apprentice. As for Joseph Baena, we'll have to wait and see whether he follows in his father's footsteps and becomes an actor, but we wouldn't mind seeing him recreate another classic Terminator moment.
