How X-Men: Apocalypse Is Letting You Turn Into Your Favorite X-Men Character
Who wouldn't want to be a mutant in the X-Men universe? Sure, you would have to deal with constant fear and hatred from a less than understanding human population, but just think of the abilities you would have! It's going to take quite a while before evolution gives us X-Men level powers, but for those of you less patient fans, there may still be an option to join Charles Xavier's team. You won't necessarily get to save the world, but you will certainly look the part.
We've just learned that the folks at 20th Century Fox have teamed up with White Castle (of Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle fame) to pretty much make the wildest dreams of any self-respecting X-Men fan come true. As a promotional deal to generate excitement for the upcoming home release of X-Men: Apocalypse, any White Castle customer who purchases a medium or large soft drink, or a White Castle six-pack of sliders will be entered to win a grand prize raffle in which the lucky winner will be flown to New York City for three nights. During this visit, the winner will get the opportunity to meet a team of Hollywood visual effects artists and become his or her favorite X-Men character for a one of a kind photo-shoot.
If you don't go to White Castle that often, don't worry. Although the contest began last month on August 25, the sweepstakes will run through the end of 2016 and the winner will be announced on January 31, 2017. There's still plenty of time to play.
As far as promotional contests go, this one's pretty damn intriguing. Like I said before: who wouldn't want to become an X-Man? Personally, if I won I would demand that the visual effects team make me look like Wolverine -- or maybe just make me look like Hugh Jackman. Either one works. Just don't make me look like Wade Wilson; that dude is hideous.
Of course, like most competitions of this ilk, White Castle will also roll out a ton of X-Men inspired dishes to complement the home release of Apocalypse. With items ranging from The Ghost Pepper Cheese Slider to The Apocalyptic Waffle Slider, it's safe to say that White Castle has once again become one of the most enticing options for greasy, late night food.
CinemaBlend will keep you up to date with any and all relevant details related to this competition (as well as the home release of X-Men: Apocalypse) as more information becomes available to us. The latest X-Men adventure will be available on Digital HD on September 9; the Blu-Ray and DVD editions of the film will hit shelves later this fall on October 4th. Stay tuned for more details!
