Doctor Strange, the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is only a few months away and now's the time when the marketing campaign and promotions really start to ramp up. As such, more details about the film are going to be revealed through new footage in commercials and other officially released material. Now we've got a longer, more detailed plot synopsis for the superhero blockbuster. Check out the new spoiler free synopsis below.
This synopsis was uncovered by Cosmic Books News and reportedly came from movie theaters in Ireland (where the movie opens on October 25). While the synopsis is certainly the longest we've gotten, it's light on any specific details and consists of information we mostly already know. It also lays out the basic three-act structure of the film. From this, we can glean that Stephen Strange will get into an accident and go on the search for a cure to his injured hands. Then he learns about magic from the Ancient One and how to use it before fighting the bad guy in a climatic third act fight. It's pretty typical as far as Marvel movies go, but no less exciting to see on screen. It's also interesting to learn that Strange will have to choose between his old life and his new role as mystical protector. That sort of conflict hasn't really been seen in the MCU.
Doctor Strange has slowly been proving itself to be one the more unique comic book films to date. The movie will introduce magic into the MCU, something that hasn't really been seen in any superhero film (or at least not with such heavy focus). The superhero blockbuster will also dabble in the idea of other dimensions and the Multiverse.
Doctor Strange is co-written and directed by Scott Derrickson. Benedict Cumberbatch leads the cast as Doctor Stephen Strange with a supporting cast that includes Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Scott Adkins, Michael Stuhlbarg, Amy Landecker, and Mads Mikkelsen. The film is set to be released in theaters on November 4, 2016.
