John Wick 2 Drops Its First Image, But When Will We Finally See Some Footage?
Earlier this week, we wrote a feature about big upcoming movies from which we're still waiting to see footage - and one of the titles on that list was John Wick: Chapter Two. The anticipated sequel will be coming out in the early months of 2017, but the marketing has been totally quiet. That changes today, however, with the release of a debut poster, and news about where fans can get their first look at the film.
Lionsgate decided that today was the perfect day to start their big campaign for John Wick: Chapter Two - and this poster is the very start of it. As you can see, star Keanu Reeves is being sized up for a new all-black suit, as he is surely ready to kick even more ass than we saw him kick in the first movie back in 2014.
Cool as the debut one-sheet is, however, it's not the only news we have about John Wick: Chapter Two today. The studio officially announced that the movie, along with the developing Power Rangers reboot, will be a part of the Lionsgate panel that will be taking place during New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 8th. Not only will the presentation feature Q&A sessions with the cast and producers of John Wick 2, but it's also been promised that fans will be treated with "exclusive, never-before-seen footage" from the film. Those who can't make it to Manhattan for the festivities will be able to tune in via Twitch, though it's currently unclear if the clips they show will be part of it. Regardless, we personally hope that we will see the film's debut trailer premiere either at the same time as the panel, or directly after.
In John Wick: Chapter Two, directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad, the titular hitman (Keanu Reeves) once again finds himself pulled out of retirement and back into the killing game. This time it's not because somebody kiled his dog, but instead because a former associate is trying to take over the international assassins' guild, and Wick is bound by a blood oath to help him. In addition to Reeves, Ian McShane, Bridget Moynahan, David Patrick Kelly and Lance Riddick will all be reprising their roles, while new additions to the ensemble include Common and Ruby Rose.
Set to directly compete with both Fifty Shades Darker, and The LEGO Batman Movie, John Wick: Chapter 2 will be in theaters on February 10, 2017. That's some pretty stiff competition, but given the love for the first movie, it certainly has plenty of potential provided its able to earn the same kind of buzz. We're definitely excited for it, so be sure to stay tuned in the coming months as we both learn more about the film, and get to see more from it!
