The Amazing Way Stan Lee Filmed Some Of His Future Marvel Cameos
Stan Lee is a true legend in the world of fiction, and every single time he appears in a new Marvel movie it stands as a tribute to the amazing comic book world that he helped create. Sadly, however, the guy is now 93 years old -- meaning that getting each cameo done isn't exactly the easiest task. Fortunately, Marvel Studios has been able to use their forward planning to their advantage, because they recently got Lee to film four cameos for four separate projects in just one day.
This past Friday, a special screening of Captain America: Civil War was held in Los Angeles, and it was during a Q&A session after the movie that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige discussed the recent back-to-back-to-back-to-back roles that Stan Lee performed. A member of the audience asked if the Marvel co-founder's cameos were just random or specific for each film, and after Feige explained that each one was thought out, he mentioned the recent filming session with Lee down in Georgia. Said Feige,
This would be tricky for most studios making comic book movies to pull off, but the reality is that Marvel Studios currently has four different projects that are currently being made. Doctor Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 have both completed production and are now in the editing phase, while both Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok are still currently filming. It's even possible that the filming session had Stan Lee doing what he needed to do for scenes in The Avengers: Infinity War and The Avengers 4, given that both of those movies are now in pre-production down in Atlanta.
Seeing Stan Lee pop up in various Marvel movies is always a treat, and one that we gotten to experience three times already this year: with Lee being a strip club DJ in Deadpool, a FedEx delivery guy in Captain America: Civil War, and a man fearing nuclear destruction in X-Men: Apocalypse. Doctor Strange will surely be next when it arrives in theaters on November 4th, and we look forward to the clever way that Scott Derrickson managed to squeeze Lee into the multi-dimensional film.
