Another New Batman v Superman Easter Egg Shows Off Batman’s Insane Battle Prep Skills
It's a well-established fact that Batman is the best strategist in the entire DC mythos. Although Lex Luthor may possibly have an advantage in terms of raw brainpower, Bruce Wayne can pretty much outthink anyone in a tactical situation. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice understood this fact, and an insanely obscure Easter Egg has finally hit the web showcasing exactly how brilliant Ben Affleck's Batman truly was in that film. Check it out below.
One very astute Dawn of Justice viewer (aptly named MisterBatfleck) posted the above photo to Twitter after discovering a brand new Easter Egg from Batman V Superman. Coming from the montage sequence that occurs prior to The Dark Knight's battle with the Man of Steel (Henry Cavill), the photo in question shows that Bruce Wayne stored his Kryptonite gas in shells labeled with the letters "Pb." Although it may seem relatively irrelevant to a casual viewer, this is important because Pb is the periodic table abbreviation for lead -- the one thing that Superman's X-Ray vision cannot penetrate.
This is a pretty important revelation to make regarding the nature of the titular battle. Not only does it show the level of forethought that Bruce Wayne put into his secret weapon against the Last Son of Krypton, but it also provides a relatively solid rationale for why Clark Kent would dive headfirst into a grenade that could cause him serious bodily harm. He had no reason to assume that the shell contained anything other than smoke or explosives because he couldn't see inside of it.
This isn't merely a hypothesis either; Batman V Superman photographer, and frequent Zack Snyder collaborator, Clay Enos took to Twitter to specifically confirm the Easter Egg once it has been found:
Getting The Dark Knight's strategic acumen right in the DCEU is incredibly important for filmmakers who will tackle the character in the near future. He cannot physically compete with his Justice League allies, and as such, he needs to showcase specifically useful talents that will make him an asset among DC's godlike heroes. Although he cannot trade punches with Doomsday, fly, or run through the space-time continuum, Bruce Wayne clearly has an understanding of how to win any fight, and that's something the League will need when Steppenwolf shows up.
Despite it's polarizing nature, we cannot ignore the sheer amount of detail that went into the production of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Zack Snyder has an eye for the obscure, and we can only assume that he will continue that trend when Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
