When Star Wars: Rogue One Will Show Off More New Footage
If there is one thing that we definitively know about Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it's the fact that we still know very little about the film. Sure, we've seen some trailers and a few promotional images, but Disney has played the upcoming prequel/sequel/spin-off incredibly close to the chest. This has us wondering when we will see any more footage prior to the film's release. Now it seems that, while another trailer is indeed on the way, we will have to wait for this November's Doctor Strange to actually see it.
While speaking at Kino Expo International (via Star Wars News), Walt Disney director of Russian marketing, Elena Brodskaya, revealed the premiere date of the next Star Wars trailer. As Star Wars and Marvel are both profitable Disney properties, the entertainment giant will package the final Rogue One trailer with the upcoming release of Doctor Strange -- which will land in theaters on November 4 in America. As of right now, that means we have roughly five weeks until the trailer drops; mark your calendars accordingly.
Disney seems to very clearly understand that it has something special on its hands with the Star Wars franchise. Compared to most other major blockbuster film series, the Star Wars franchise has an incredibly timeless reputation, and it doesn't necessarily require a thorough marketing campaign. Unlike a movie such as Suicide Squad -- which did quite a bit of legwork familiarizing mainstream members of the audience with its core premise and ensemble -- a Star Wars film maintains an accessible universe simply due to the fact that its so ingrained in our culture.
This has made the wait for Rogue One something of a double-edged sword. On one hand, we've seen very little of the film, which means that most of its secrets remain intact. On the other hand, that only makes our anticipation more intense because we desperately want to know the truth behind these awesome secrets.
Of course, that doesn't mean we're completely in the dark regarding the upcoming standalone Star Wars movie. Disney has released just enough footage to make sure that our excitement remains at a perpetual fever pitch. Check out the most recent trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story below:
One thing is certain: if the next Rogue One trailer is that good, then the final few weeks of waiting will be truly agonizing. CinemaBlend will bring you all of the latest and greatest Star Wars news as more information becomes available to us. Make sure to check out the next trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story when Doctor Strange hits theaters on November 4. The first standalone Star Wars film will debut the following month on December 16.
