How Charlize Theron's Character Will Compare To Other Fast & Furious Villains
With seven previous entries in the books, the Fast & Furious franchise has seen more than their fair share of villains. So how will Charlize Theron's stack-up? Michelle Rodriguez can tell you. As one of the actresses who helped found the franchise Rodriquez knows a thing or two about it, and she says that Theron's character Cipher will be the badest one yet.
Villains weren't one of the things that the Fast and Furious movies were necessarily known for at the begging, but the more recent entries in the franchise have introduced some pretty good bad guys, most recently Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw. Whether or not Charlize Theron is part of the Shaw family is not known at this point. Regardless, it certainly seems that her character, known only as Cipher, is one that Fast 8 is expecting a great deal from. Michelle Rodriguez's comments to ET are hardly the first time we've heard glowing praise regarding Theron or the character.
While Michelle Rodriguez calls Charlize Theron the "most powerful" villain in the series, that doesn't necessarily mean that the character is going to be the ultimate evil. Fast 8 composer Brian Tyler compared the character to a siren, saying that she's a character the audience is going to want to follow, and become invested in, even though she's the bad guy. She's also in the unique place of being the first female villain in the franchise. This will almost certainly bring new elements to the character all by itself.
It will be interesting to see how the villains work out in Fast 8 . In addition to Charlize Theron, we also know that Jason Statham will be reprising his role as Deckard Shaw. There's also a slight possibility that Helen Mirren will be playing another bad guy. We know Mirren has a small role, and the villain was the part she had previously been lobbying for.
We'll likely get an idea of who Cipher is and what she is up to when the first trailer for Fast 8 hits. Unfortunately, we know we're still a couple months away from that, as Vin Diesel recently announced the trailer will hit December 11.
Since we know that the Fast & Furious franchise is set for 10 movies, we can't help but wonder if there are long-term plans for Cipher, considering how great everybody seems to think she will be. Our first look at her in Fast 8 may be far from our last_. _
Is the new bad guy the most exciting thing about Fast 8 for you or is there something else you're looking forward to more? Let us know in the comments below.
