New Power Rangers Posters Give Us A Closer Look At The Rangers’ Suits
If you've been paying attention to the world of Hollywood lately you'll have noticed an obvious trend: nostalgia is everywhere. It seems like all things 80's and 90's are back with a vengeance, as we're transported to a simpler time through reboots and long awaited sequels. Case in point: the upcoming Power Rangers movie, which will reimagine the iconic 90's children's show Mighty Morphin Power Rangers into an action packed sci-fi adventure featuring some truly outstanding cast members. But perhaps the most exciting aspect of the new Power Rangers movie is the ability to see both the Rangers and their Zords in a big budget Hollywood movie- basically bringing our childhood imagination new life.
Luckily for us, we've just gotten a new look at the Power Rangers' suits, as each character has gotten a new poster. You can check them all out in a handy video from IGN's official Twitter page. Check it out.
Pretty cool, right? For the first time, we've got bonafide close ups of the new teenagers with attitude, and can see all the nooks and crannies of their supersuits. Let's break down what we're (finally) being shown in the above images.
To start, all of the Rangers' Iron Man-esque chests are out and proud. This was one of the more shocking aspects of these new costumes, as the original suits didn't have any sort of light attached. Of course, the original series was produced way back in the 90's, so they didn't really have the special affects and budget to splurge on all the bells and whistles. It should be interesting to see what these glowing cores represent for the heroes. Is it the source of their power, or are the shining chests just there to look cool? It's also important to note that the male members of the team (Jason, Billy, and Zack) have more light showing than the ladies, as there seems to be an opening on the side of their pectorals.
From the above images we can also see that the Power Rangers still have their morphers around their waists. This was a standard of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, as the young heroes would whip out their morphers in order to transform into the Rangers during conflicts. At that point, they would appear as a belt buckle of sorts on the suits- a practice which seems to be remaining consistent for the upcoming movie. They seemed to be one of the main focuses in the new character posters, and I'm looking forward to seeing the cast whip out the morphers during battle and transform into the robot looking heroes we've been shown recently.
What do you think of the new Power Rangers images? Are they making you more or less excited for the upcoming movie? Sound off in the comments below.
