We all know that Comic Con is a magical place. First and foremost, it's a place where fandoms can let their freak flag fly, and where you can abandon the typical rules of life and be as nerdy as you want. People dress up in full cosplay and are celebrated. One of the only aspects of Comic Cons that is more exciting than the sense of community are the panels and exclusive footage which tend to be debuted during these events. This weekend's New York Comic Con had plenty of the latter, as the first look into War for the Planet of the Apes and Power Rangers have set the internet ablaze. And now we've got another exclusive trailer to drool over: Keanu Reeves' upcoming action shooter John Wick: Chapter 2.
The first full length trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2 was just released, and promises a ton of action and an all-star cast. Check it out below.
Man, that's a lot of guns.
The above trailer gives us our first comprehensive look at John Wick: Chapter 2. The plot is in stark juxtaposition to its predecessor, although I'm not sure the story is why people are interested in either movie. John Wick revolved around Keanu's ex-hitman who had retired from the underworld in order to live a safe life with his wife. But when she unfortunately succumbs to an unknown illness, he's left on his own with a puppy she left him. The real action begins when John's puppy is killed, leading him on a strange case of revenge against a powerful Russian crime family. Seriously, the movie kind of about a puppy.
But John Wick: Chapter 2 has a more logical, although still somewhat silly, concept. John Wick will once again be forced out of retirement to kill masses of people with tactical brilliance. This time the mission is about helping a friend who is aiming (literally) to claim control over a international group of assassins. For some reason, John is thrust into this conflict, and will therefore have to kill some of the deadliest people in the world. This will surely make for some pulse pounding action sequences, as John Wick will be battling foes of similar skill level.
In addition to awesome fight and shooting sequences, John Wick: Chapter 2 also boasts an impressive cast of actors. Alongside Keanu Reeves are franchise staples Bridget Moynahan as John's late wife, Ian McShane as Winston and John Leguizamo as Aurelio. Joining these returning cast members are rapper/actor Common, the always intimidating Laurence Fishburne, and Orange is the New Black actress/model Ruby Rose.
John Wick: Chapter 2 will debut in theaters on February 10th, 2017.
