New Logan Photo Shows An Unusual Location

If there's one thing that's been made clear about Logan, it's that it will be one of the darkest X-Men movies yet. The third Wolverine spinoff will reportedly be set in a depressing future, and it looks like at least one of those locations will help emphasize the bleakness. Take a look at one of the spots that Logan visited during its production.

Hugh Jackman shared this photo on his social media accounts earlier today of what the actor labeled as a "smelting plant," Which evidently includes a toppled water tower. Regardless, apparently this is one of the locations where Logan shot, and if you look closely, you'll see a fancy black car parked on the left side. It's the same one that Wolverine was seen driving in from leaked set photos, so evidently the clawed mutant has business at this "smelting plant." It's correct to assume that said business we'll probably involve popping his claws, right? This is the latest mysterious image from the Logan set that shows that we're getting a significantly more intense X-Men adventure, hence why it's in R-rated territory.

As most of you know, Logan will adapt elements of Old Man Logan, but this toppled water tower gives off more of a direct vibe of the 2008 storyline. In that continuity, most of the Marvel heroes were dead, and Wolverine was living with his family on a barren plot of land in California. That tower looks likes something that might have been a landmark in his neck of the woods. We'll have to wait and see what goes down there in Logan, but right now, the main adjective that comes to mind for this setting is ominous.

Set in the year 2024, Logan will reportedly follow the eponymous protagonist as his healing powers start fading, which has forced him to drink consistently to help with the pain. His old friend, Professor X, also isn't doing that great either, as he's become unstable in his old age. In fact, it isn't a great time for mutantkind in general. Supposedly the mutant birthrate has declined, and leading to the population slowly dropping. On top of that, a mysterious organization named Transigen is kidnapping young mutants to turn them into living weapons. Needless to say, that won't sit well with Wolverine given his past with Weapon X. During his latest, and possibly final, adventure, he'll meet his female clone, X-23, who pops out two retractable claws on each hand rather than three. Since Logan will be Hugh Jackman's last time playing Wolverine, it looks like the cast and crew are doing everything they can to make sure he goes out with a bang.

Logan will claw its way into theaters on March 3, 2017.
