Michael Bay Went Live From The Middle Of A Massive Transformers Battle Scene
Social media has completely changed the way that fans follow their favorite movies. It's not only about rumors and speculation becoming widespread, now the filmmakers themselves can even show off what they're working on live as it happens. Such was the case when Michael Bay went live from a medieval battlefield from the set of Transformers: The Last Knight in the UK.
At this point, we just have no idea what the hell is going on with the new Transformers movie. When details of the plot first emerged, they included references to Merlin the magician. It appeared that the story would deal with Optimus Prime's quest for a new powerful object of some kind, one that had been on Earth since the days of Camelot. However, when filming for Transformers: The Last Knight arrived in the UK, what we got was Nazi swastikas, as we learned that part of the film would take place during an alternate history version of World War II, where the Nazis successfully invaded England.
However, now we're back into a much earlier time period as we see Michael Bay wandering around a battlefield which clearly includes banners from a much different era. This is not a World War II battlefield, but one that includes men in armor fighting on horseback. We officially have no idea what is going on in this movie.
What's more, Michael Bay says that from the UK, they'll be leaving shortly to do some filming somewhere in Africa. This after the movie has already shot in Cuba. Between the variety of the locations and the variety of the time periods which this film is apparently dealing with, we're really curious how the script is going to allow it all to hang together.
However all this works, there's one thing that we have to say about Michael Bay, he knows how to make large scale visuals like few others. While getting a clear image of the carnage behind Bay in the vide is tough, it's obvious that there's been some large scale destruction going on back there. It looks like a bomb went off, and considering the way this story will apparently jump through time, we can't discount the possibility that's exactly what happened.
We're really looking forward to the first trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight, as we're hoping that a couple minutes of actual footage might give us something approaching an understanding of the story. Although, if you're a fan of Michael Bay, that part may not matter. It certainly looks to be a very Michael Bay sort of movie. Are you looking forward to the Bay-hem? Let us know what you think in the comments.
