Vin Diesel's xXx: Return Of Xander Cage Trailer Is Good, Extreme And Completely Insane
Vin Diesel doesn't do anything in half measures. So fans know that if he's actually going to return to the xXx franchise -- the one he helped launch back in 2002 -- then he was going to do everything in his power to push the action over the top. After passing the baton to Ice Cube for xXx: State of the Union, Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) returns in... ahem, xXx: Return of Xander Cage. And here's the latest full trailer. Check out this insanity.
In case the adjectives above sound weird to you, it's because they're the primary guidelines for the type of people Xander Cage trusts: the good, the extreme and completely insane. Well, as this new trailer shows, he'll be getting plenty of that in his latest adventure. It's been 14 years since we last saw Cage in action, but he hasn't missed a step in his hiatus. He still knows how to punch bad guys, ski through forests and skateboard off the sides of buses. (What, you didn't learn these skills growing up?) Oh, and he also doesn't take any lip for your standard military operatives, as evidenced by how he sends four of them off a flying plane. It's cool, they were attached to a cargo crate that presumably has a parachute attached, so that makes it all okay.
While Xander Cage is obviously the xXx threequel's main hero, this new preview also makes sure that the viewer is familiar with his supporting cast. Samuel L. Jackson is back as Augustus Eugene Gibbons, and we get to hear his wise advice again: kick some ass, get the girl and try to look dope while you're doing it. As far as the new players go, they include Donnie Yen's Xiang , Deepika Padukone as Serena Unger, Ruby Rose's Adele Wolff, Nina Dobrev's Becky Clearidge and Toni Collete's Jane Marke. Put together a cast like this, plenty of explosions and some witty repartee (like Vin Diesel's "not making me breakfast" comment), and it's clear that this movie will be one hell of a ride.
In next year's xXx: Return of Xander Cage, the extreme-sports enthusiast comes out of his self-imposed retirement to lock horns with an equally extreme alpha male super spy (yes, that's a real sentence about a real movie) as they each race to retrieve Pandora's Box. It's a weapon, of some sorts, and as Xander works to reach it, he realizes that there's a massive conspiracy at the top levels of several international governments working against him and his team. Can his motorcycle/jet ski hybrid help Xander save the world? Probably.
xXx: Return of Xander Cage hits theaters on January 20, 2017. Let us know what you thought of this latest trailer in the comments below.
