We've just learned that the latest trailer for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage has made a serious impression online. The numbers don't lie; Vin Diesel recently hosted the live premiere of the preview, and across all major platforms, the highly anticipated sequel's new trailer generated roughly 100 million views in only two days. The exposure of the trailer is only expected to rise over the course of the next few weeks, as it will precede showings of Marvel's wildly successful Doctor Strange. With this kind of momentum on its side, there's really no telling how many views xXx 3's trailer will garner by the time it debuts in theaters this January.
It's obviously worth noting that much of the film's appeal likely lies in the strength of its supporting cast. While Vin Diesel is obviously the star of the show, it seems that he has definitely learned a thing or two from the success of the Fast & Furious franchise. With that in mind, The Return of Xander Cage features an incredibly eclectic international cast that consists of Donnie Yen, Samuel L. Jackson, Ruby Rose, Deepika Padukone and Nina Dobrev. We've written at length about how films that embrace diversity tend to perform incredibly well at the box office (particularly overseas), and the latest installment in the xXx franchise definitely fits that description.
Of course, it probably also helps that the xXx franchise really isn't trying to reinvent the wheel this time around. The long-awaited third installment in the series is definitely sticking to what it does best: speed, action and self-aware machismo. Fans of the franchise generally know what to expect from a movie like this, and the trailers have thus far definitely promised to deliver it all.
