What Emma Watson Thought Of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them
It's a good time to be a Harry Potter fan. While the massive fandom had a few years in inactivity following 2011 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows- Part 2, theres been a renaissance of new material provided by J.K. Rowling and her team of producers. The script for the two part stage plays Harry Potter And The Cursed Child have been flying off of shelves, and now Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has jump started a new franchise of films. But what do the original stars of Harry Potter think of this new material?
Emma Watson is perhaps the most vocal of the original Harry Potter trio on social media, and regarding the franchise as a whole. While she'd previously praised Cursed Child and the actress who plays Hermione, Watson recently revealed her thoughts about Fantastic Beasts. She said the following on her personal Twitter page:
There you go, people. Hermione Granger is a fan of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, so I guess we all should be.
Of course, it should come to no surprise that Emma Watson loved the newest installment in the Harry Potter franchise. Since before she was cast as frizzy haired Hermione, Watson has been a dedicated fan of the novels. The characters and universe that J.K. Rowling has crafted means a great deal to the Beauty and the Beast actress, who also owes her career to landing the role of Hermione as a child actor. Additionally, there is always a chance that Watson could return as Hermione in a future project.
With the Wizarding World growing in reach and scope, it's perfectly plausible that a project could be produced in the future feating the original cast. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint have all been getting fairly consistent work in both movies and plays. They've only continued to grow and train as actors, and it would definitely be great to see them reprise their roles sometime in the future. But what could that project be?
The obvious choice is a movie adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Set nearly 20 years after the Battle of Hogwarts, the two plays focus on what happened to the original cast of characters, as well as their children. Various timeline are explored, allowing the trio of adult actors who take on a multitude of roles- requiring some very specific work from the actors in question. Then again, this would only make sense if the actors had aged significantly, so that might be further down the line.
Another option would be a play or movie set in between Deathly Hollows and Cursed Child. While we know what happens to Harry, Ron, and Hermione, we didn't actually get to see how they got there. How did Hermione rise in power at the Ministry? How did the gang react to their respective pregnancies? Where the heck is Neville? All of these questions could be answered with a new project, and allow the original actors to return to the franchise.
