One Actress Makes A Plea To Play Black Canary In A DCEU Movie

Being a superhero isn't just a man's game, and there are plenty of amazing female heroes in the DC lore. One such heroine is none other than Dinah Lance a.k.a Black Canary. It's a part that is undoubtedly going to be cast at some point in the future of the DCEU, and as such it's very intriguing to think of possible actress who could realistically take on the role. Now it seems that Vikings' Katheryn Winnick has thrown her hat into the ring to don the fishnet stockings and leather jacket of this legendary character. Check out her tweet below.

Katheryn WInnick was recently question by a fan on Twitter regarding whether or not she had any interest in taking on the role of Black Canary in a potential Green Arrow DCEU adventure. As you can see from her reply above, she's definitely on board. I have to say that I have a hard time disagreeing with this choice. The 38-year-old actress has been actively working in Hollywood since 1999; she has developed a strong resume in the realms of drama and action, and she even looks like a real life version of Black Canary.

Of course, it's worth noting that Katheryn Winnick doesn't just look like a real life version of Dinah Lance. She also has the raw physicality to hold her own in a fight, which is something that even Arrow's Katie Cassidy consistently struggled with during her tenure as Black Canary.

Don't believe me? Take a look at a quick fight scene from Vikings for some solid proof:

In all honesty, we wouldn't even need a Green Arrow movie for Black Canary to finally make her way to the silver screen. We already know that Margot Robbie is hard at work on a Harley Quinn/ Birds of Prey movie, and it seems increasingly likely that Black Canary will pop up during that adventure. After all, she's one of the most iconic members of the Birds of Prey team in the source material.

This isn't the first time that Ms. Winnick has pitched herself for a superhero role. Prior to the reveal of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Winnick similarly campaigned to take on the lead in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first female-driven solo movie. Perhaps it was fate that Larson eventually got the part, because Black Canary is an even more fitting role for an actress like Katheryn Winnick.

At this point there is no guarantee that Katheryn Winnick is truly in the running for the role of Black Canary, but she's definitely a great option for DC to consider. With a Harley Quinn/ Birds of Prey movie currently in development, there's little doubt that we WILL see this awesome heroine enter the fray in the near future. Stay tuned for more details!
