The War For The Planet Of The Apes Trailer Is Epic And Beautiful
We look forward to a lot of franchise films here at Cinema Blend, but there are few that earn more excitement than the Planet of the Apes titles. Since 2011, the sci-fi films have wowed with a mix of great storytelling and magical performance capture technology. Now the trailer for the latest film, War For The Planet Of The Apes, has launched, and it legitimately looks like it could be the best in the series yet.
Damn! 20th Century Fox launched this War For The Planet Of The Apes trailer on its official YouTube channel, and it's pretty damn hard not to be impressed. The opening shot is both stunning and a beautiful link back to the original Planet of The Apes, and what follows is dark, thrilling, and exciting. We've been seeing a lot of 2017 trailers in recent weeks, but this preview further solidifies director Matt Reeves' blockbuster as one of our most anticipated of the upcoming year.
In addition to launching the incredible new trailer you see above, War For The Planet Of The Apes has also launched its official poster - and in its simplicity and boldness, it's legitimately just as impressive. Check it out below:
When I visited the set of War For The Planet Of The Apes back in January of this year, there were direct comparisons drawn between the film and a Clint Eastwood western, and this poster definitely sells that. I love that you only get 1/7th of the title here, but you still know exactly what you're getting, and Andy Serkis' Caesar looks as badass as ever. This is a war that we couldn't be more ready for.
Set approximately two years after the events in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the story picks up with Caesar (Serkis) continuing to try and make a better and more comfortable life for apes on the ever-changing planet. Unfortunately, these plans put him in direct conflict with Colonel (Woody Harrelson), the ruthless leader of a resistance army that has built a fortress/internment camp in the mountains of Colorado. While Caesar wants only peace, not war, he can only be pushed so far, and in the ensuing fight, the fate of the world is determined. The film is based on a script co-written by Matt Reeves and Mark Bomback, and also stars Steve Zahn, Amiah Miller, Karin Konoval and Terry Notary.
Audiences will be able to catch War For The Planet Of The Apes in theaters on July 14, 2017, and be sure to stay tuned here on CinemaBlend for all of our set visit coverage and much more!
