A Top Marvel Director Is Losing His Mind Over The Upcoming Wolverine Movie
If you consider yourself even a cursory fan of the comic book movie genre, then you probably already know that we're due for a heartwrenching goodbye this spring. Hugh Jackman will finally hang up his adamantium claws and say goodbye to Wolverine when Logan debuts in theaters on March 3. It's baffling to ponder the fact that one of the most iconic superhero actors of all time will soon retire, but it seems that he's intent on going out on a high note. In fact, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson recently had the opportunity to see a portion of Logan, and he could barely contain his enthusiasm for the film. Derrickson tweeted:
As you can pretty clearly tell from Scott Derrickson's tweet, he's not in any mood to mince words. The MCU director has officially seen 40 minutes of footage from 20th Century Fox's upcoming Wolverine sequel, and he's completely smitten. In fact, Scott Derrickson even makes the bold assertion that Logan could potentially go on to be considered the best X-Men movie of all time. As longtime fans of the mutant franchise, we will keep our fingers, toes, and claws firmly crossed that he's correct.
Scott Derrickson is definitely a director that we trust on this particular issue. Aside from the fact that he directed the wildly successful Doctor Strange, he also knows his way around R-rated, blood-drenched movies. With credits on strong horror franchises like Sinister and Hellraiser, the guy has a firm grasp on intensely violent and brutal movies, and that's exactly what Logan should be.
Of course, it's definitely worth noting that Scott Derrickson isn't alone in his assessment of James Mangold's upcoming Wolverine film. A number of critics recently had the opportunity to similarly watch a 40-minute segment of Logan, and the screenings have pretty much received universal praise. From the gritty, hard R violence, to the depiction of characters like Wolverine and X-23, it's slowly but surely starting to become clear that Hugh Jackman intends to go out with a serious bang. After all, he's the best there is at what he does.
We will bring you all of the best and bloodiest Logan details as more information is made available to us. Considering the sheer number of positive reviews the film has already received, I think it's safe to say that this will be a superhero film that you will not want to miss. Logan will slash its way into theaters on March 3, 2017.
