Tobey Maguire Reacts To Andrew Garfield Reacting To New Spider-Man And The Internet Can't Look Away
In 2017, Tom Holland will be the third actor to headline his very own Spider-Man movie with Spider-Man: Homecoming. Naturally, there is a great deal of curiosity regarding how previous Spidey actors - Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire - will feel about this new reboot... and that curiosity has inspired a funny new parody video that you can watch below!
This video was created by YouTube user DrMachakil, and is actually a follow-up to an earlier video he made featuring just Andrew Garfield's reaction (you can catch that one later in this article). It's cut together primarily with footage from 2011's The Details and 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with some Spider-Man 3 stuff spliced in for good measure, and it comes together with very funny results.
In reality, the situation with Spider-Man: Homecoming really isn't so dire or depressing for the former webheads. While we have not yet learned about Tobey Maguire's reaction to the new Spider-Man movie set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Andrew Garfield has actually responded very enthusiastically to the debut footage. A few days ago, ETOnline got Garfield's opinion on the trailer, and the actor said,
Of course, that doesn't mean we can't still chuckle at parody:
At the very least, Spider-Man: Homecoming does look like it will feature a very different version of the titular wall-crawler than any of the other big screen versions. While both the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield incarnations picked up with the character at the tail end of high school, Tom Holland will be playing the hero as a young sophomore. Furthermore, this new webslinger will be palling around with Iron Man and potentially other Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes, which definitely sets him apart.
After years of waiting, we'll finally be getting to see a Spider-Man movie set in the MCU in just a few months. Jon Watts' Spider-Man: Homecoming - which co-stars Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Logan Marshall Green and Donald Glover amongst others - will be in theaters on July 7, 2017. It's certainly one of our most anticipated features coming out next year, so you can be sure that you'll be hearing a lot more about the film in the coming weeks and months here on Cinema Blend!
