One Guardians Of The Galaxy Actor Thinks Their Own Spinoff Is Inevitable
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is an ever-growing beast. At this point, it's not clear exactly how far it could go. While we know which characters will be getting their own films for the next several years, one Guardians of the Galaxy actor thinks he may be breaking out on his own very soon. Vin Diesel says that a Groot movie isn't just something that he'd like to do, he thinks such a film will almost certainly happen eventually.
There aren't many different ways to interpret the word "inevitable." It seems that Vin Diesel truly believes that a Groot spinoff movie is something that will happen. Vin Diesel tells MTV that James Gunn has expressed interest in making the movie, which is the sort of thing that could get the movie made all by itself.
Vin Diesel seems to be clearly talking about a standalone movie for Groot in this case, which would separate it from the Groot/Rocket movie that Diesel has also said is something that could happen down the road. It's possible that Diesel could ultimately be talking about the same film. Maybe the idea is that the movie will focus on Groot but Rocket will also be along for the ride. We could also be talking about two entirely different movies that James Gunn would like to make. That would keep him around for awhile and we're sure marvel wouldn't have an issue with that.
According to Vin Diesel, it sounds like the idea for a Groot film would delve into the backstory of the character with an exceptionally limited vocabulary. We could potentially see the planet where Groot comes from and learn more about who, or is it what, he is. Diesel says that Groot is actually a genius, it's just that the rest of us don't know it because we can't actually comprehend what he is saying when he seems to endlessly repeat the words "I am Groot."
It is true that Vin Diesel does know a great deal more about the character than we do. James Gunn has said that Diesel is actually given an annotated version of the script so that he knows what Groot is actually saying.
We'd certainly be interested in learning more about one of the most curious characters in the MCU. Would you buy a ticket to a Groot movie? Let us know in the comments below.
