We May See Deathstroke In A DC Movie Much Sooner Than We Thought
If you follow this site, then you already know how excited we are for Zack Snyder's Justice League. The film will mark the first ever meeting of the titular team of superheroes on the silver screen, and it will introduce a ton of new heroes and villains to the DCEU. In fact, the Justice League ensemble may have just grown by one badass mercenary, as we recently learned that Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke is slated to make his debut in the upcoming team-up film -- NOT during the solo Batman movie.
A recently released magazine article (via Comicbook.com) laying out the overarching synopsis for Justice League has officially indicated that Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke will make an appearance in the film. How the mercenary will specifically factor into the story of the major DC team-up event remains to be seen, but something tells us that Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor will hire him to (at the very least) break him out of Arkham Asylum. We won't know for sure until the movie debuts, but that theory makes the most sense at this point. After all, Steppenwolf wouldn't have nearly as much use for Slade Wilson's skills.
This development has forced us to look at the recently released footage of Joe Manganiello wearing the Deathstroke suit in a different light. Many fans had assumed that the Deathstroke footage shared by Ben Affleck was nothing more than test footage from the solo Batman movie, but this revelation leads us to believe that the sequence shared by the Batman actor may take place during Justice League.
This sequence certainly looks like it takes place at the entrance of The Batcave, so this could indicate that Deathstroke will learn Batman's true identity during the events of Justice League, which will segue nicely to the conflict of the solo Batman movie. Again, this is nothing more than conjecture, but there's evidence to support it.
We should also point out that this more imminent arrival for Mr. Wilson could potentially have implications for Wonder Woman as well. The trailers and promotional materials for Diana Princes' upcoming solo adventure have thus far have depicted the Amazonian princess wielding the "God Killer" sword, but scenes from Batman v Superman and Justice League (which take place in the modern era) don't. Deathstroke is known for wielding the God Killer in various incarnations of the comics, so we're not ruling out the possibility that he will somehow manage to get his hands on it between Wonder Woman and the beginning of Justice League.
Justice League will hit theaters later this year on November 17, 2017.
