Every Wolverine Fan Will Want This Logan IMAX Poster For Their Wall
The superhero genre has defined itself by spectacle for years, but the upcoming release of Logan will take it in a very different direction. Instead of bombastic action and great CGI effects, Hugh Jackman's final outing as Wolverine will present audiences with a far more introspective and somber affair. That said, that doesn't mean that the film will be anything less than badass. In fact, a brand new IMAX poster for Logan has just officially debuted online, and we can pretty much already guarantee that it's destined to become a collector's item. Check out the poster below to see it for yourself.
All of the promotional materials for Logan have thus far framed the upcoming Wolverine adventure as a complete throwback story. There's a certain grindhouse feeling to the gritty and grounded mutant story, and that poster, seen in James Mangold's recent tweet, captures the overall tone and style. It doesn't provide any real spoilers for the overall story (which has become an unfortunately common occurrence in the world of movie posters), but it delivers everything that we ned to get up to speed on the film's overarching narrative.
Beyond that, it also helps remind us exactly which players will play important roles in the X-Men story. Aside from Hugh Jackman's involvement, the film will also see a worn down Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), an endlessly menacing Donald Pierce (Boyd Holbrook), and the introduction of X-23 (Dafne Keen) -- who may even take over as the franchise's resident Wolverine when Jackman finally retires for good. From top to bottom, it's a fabulous ensemble, and we cannot wait to see how these comic book characters come together for this dark, mature tale.
If there is one other notable quality that stands out on this Logan IMAX poster, it's the fact that it bears quite a bit of visual similarity to the IMAX poster for Deadpool that debuted last year. 20th Century Fox seemingly understands the DNA shared between these two R-rated X-Men spin-off films (regardless of their tonal differences) and the studio seems intent on capitalizing on those similarities.
Check out the Deadpool poster below to get a better sense of what I am talking about.
Make sure to stay tuned for more updates related to the upcoming release of Logan. Hugh Jackman's final outing as the titular badass will slash its way into theaters on March 3.
