The Sleek Batsuit Batman Almost Wore In Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice
Last year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice did a number if things right, but arguably its greatest achievement was the Batsuit. Ben Affleck's outfit seems ripped straight from the comics, and it is arguably the most faithful Batman outfit that we have ever seen on the silver screen. However, it now seems that he almost wore some seriously different duds in his battle against Henry Cavill's Superman. Check out the film's newly released concept art to see what I mean.
As you can pretty clearly see from the above tweet, Ben Affleck's Batman suit from Dawn of Justice underwent some massive evolutions over the course of the film's development. Although Zack Snyder and the rest of the crew eventually landed on a suit directly inspired by Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, they initially toyed with a far more armored and high-tech suit that looked like the Christian Bale's Dark Knight suit on steroids. It is certainly a good look for the character, but it is also a serious departure from what we ultimately got.
However, astute fans of the expanded Dark Knight lore will instantly notice where the inspiration for this suit may have originated. Although the armored concept suit looks nothing like the suit seen in Batman V Superman, it clearly seems to take quite a few cues from the recent Arkham Knight game.
Dawn of Justice was in development for a long time, so it is hard to know if these similarities were intentional. That said, they are impossible to ignore in hindsight.
It is also worth mentioning that elements of this concept appear to have carried over into Batfleck's next major DCEU outing. While Dawn of Justice featured a more traditional Batsuit for our brooding hero, he will upgrade to a more heavily armored suit to face off against Steppenwolf and the Parademons in Justice League.
You can see an early shot of that suit below:
If you ask me, waiting to bring this suit into the DCEU makes plenty of sense. This Batman has officially faced off against monsters and aliens, so now he will take the appropriate steps to upgrade his armor accordingly. After all, Batman always has a plan for any given scenario, and his armor embodies that.
