Fans won't have to wait much longer for the big screen Power Rangers movie to hit the theaters. The film's marketing is in the process of dropping clips left and right on the way to the release date, but fans have mostly gone without hearing that one iconic catchphrase the series is known for. Well, consider your waiting over, because a new international trailer for Power Rangers finally has a character utter those magic words that bring back all those childhood feels: It's morphin' time! check out the trailer below to hear the words for yourself.
A new international Power Rangers trailer has just landed on YouTube. Though its mostly the same footage we've been seeing for the last few weeks, the trailer does have a new bit of audio that fans should recognize instantly. During a transformation sequence, Red Ranger Jason exclaims that "It's morphin' time!" and the camera cuts away assumedly before all his friends start laughing at him for saying it. The catchphrase has a deep history in the series, and some variation of it is said before the Rangers suit up in their color-coded costumes (Every. Single. Time.). It's a phrase ingrained into the brain of fans, and it's no big surprise that the film would find some way to work into the new theatrical version.
You know what's really hard to do? Saying "it's morphin' time" with a straight face. One of the bigger questions going into this interpretation of Power Rangers is what exactly will the tone be. It's supposed to be a grittier and more serious take on the property, but Power Rangers is a kid show; its goofiness is in its DNA. So how will the movie balance the sillier elements of the series with a more serious attitude? Recent trailers have shown a more upbeat tone than earlier ones, but we'll have to see how this all plays out when the film is up on the big screen.
Power Rangers follows five teens with attitude who find themselves chosen to be the Power Rangers, an elite fighting squad destined to fight evil. With the aid of their mentor Zordon and the robot Alpha 5, the Rangers must defeat the evil Rita Repulsa and stop her plans of global domination. The films stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, and Ludi Lin as the Power Rangers, with a cast rounded out by Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston, and Bill Hader. Power Rangers is directed by Dean Israelite.
Power Rangers is set to hit theaters on March 24. For more Power Rangers updates, be sure to keep checking in with CinemaBlend and we'll keep you updated with new information as soon as it becomes available.
