Watch Marvel’s Hilarious Tease For The Full Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Trailer
I don't know if I want to see any more footage from James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Trailer are a necessary evil in this business, of course, but Marvel fans already know where they will be on May 5 when the latest Marvel Studios sequel comes out. Do you need to see more to help you buy a ticket? Well, you are getting more, according to this (admittedly delightful) tease:
Of all the things I thought we knew about Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), "loud chewer" wouldn't be near the top of the list. The clip is light on information, and heavy on character traits with both Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) using "Dude" to try and put Drax's weird noises in check.
Can we discern anything from this clip? The only thing that stands out to me is that, as James Gunn is cycling through the reaction shots of the group -- who are all disgusted by Drax's loud eating -- Nebula (Karen Gillan) is part of the ensemble. While visiting the set of Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, he made it clear to us that the dynamic between the sisters Nebula and Gamora (Zoe Saldana) would be explored heavily in the film, when last we saw the former, she was chopping off her own hand to escape the clutches of the Guardians. I wonder how they find a way to reunite... and stay around each other without fighting.
One lingering mystery that may be revealed in the second full Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer might be a shot of Ego the Living Planet, the bizarre character played by silver screen legend Kurt Russell, who will be the long-lost father of Chris Pratt's Star-Lord. The identity of the father was a major talking point in the Guardians' origin story, and we know that finding Ego will create huge problems for Peter Quill. We're starting to get ideas of what Russell's character will look like, thanks to toy concepts. But real footage of him interacting with the team could whet fans' whistles.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 reaches theaters on May 5. We will have the new trailer on M CinemaBlend as soon as it drops tomorrow... for those of you who want to watch it. Maybe you can get away with just listening to it, depending on which Awesome Mix, Vol. 2 track James Gunn decides to highlight in the next trailer?
