There's a lot to look forward to when Wonder Woman eventually hits theaters later this summer. Diana of Themyscira is finally getting the cinematic spotlight, the trailers have all been pretty good, and it looks like a hopeful and ultimately positive experience. That last one has gotten special attention due to the mostly negative reception to Wonder Woman's DCEU predecessors, but this movie looks poised to be the rejuvenation this universe needs. Case in point, check out the excellent new poster shared by Gal Gadot that is nothing short of stunning.
Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot posted the new poster on her Twitter account, telling everyone to "believe in wonder." It's definitely hard not to with a poster like that! It's a bold and simple poster, but it's entirely satisfying. There's nothing overly photoshopped that tends to ruin most blockbuster posters, like floating heads or characters in weird poses. The colors are beautiful and Diana is elegant and strong at the same time. It's pretty much everything you could ever want from a Wonder Woman poster.
Hopefully, the movie can reflect what we see in the poster. Wonder Woman has a lot of pressure on it right now as the potential saving grace of the DCEU. If it doesn't manage to deliver, then even the novelty of the first Justice League movie might not be enough to sway opinion. That's a lot to deal with, but if any movie can do it, it's Wonder Woman.
Gal Gadot stars as Diana, a princess of the mythical island of warrior women, Themyscira. Set during the height of World War I, Diana's wanderlust and desire to protect others is put to the test when soldier Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) crash lands on the island. When he tells her about the Great War, Diana accompanies him off the island to help settle the conflict and spread a message of love as the superhero Wonder Women. The film also stars Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis and Danny Huston. Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins with a screenplay written by Allan Heinberg.
