People didn't know what to expect in 2014 when Guardians of the Galaxy first released in theaters, but it quickly caught on fire and became a phenomenon. Audiences went wild for Marvel Studios surprise smash-hit, becoming attached to its assortment of rogues turned heroes with big distinctive personalities. Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Drax, and Groot are back for the anticipated sequel, and if people thought that their time saving the galaxy together might have cooled them down then think again. Check out this new clip from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 of Star-Lord and Rocket bickering in the middle of a massive space battle. Enjoy.
A new clip for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 premiered last night during Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards (hence the emphasis on poop humor), and it showcased everything we've come to love from the Guardians: plenty of sci-fi action mixed with a distinct sense of humor. The clip opens with the Guardians racing away from a horde of pursuing enemies in the Milano. Drax comments on an unheard conversation, claiming that "to make it through that, you'd have to be the greatest pilot in the universe!"
"Don't worry," Peter Quill smirks, knowing that he's about to deliver an awesome one-liner, "I--"
"I am," Rocket cuts in, taking control of the ship and saying that one-liner better than Star-Lord was going to.
The bickering ensues between the two as they steal control of the ship from each other. Rocket, always being the first to "go there" says that Quill should expect to go to sleep and feel something squishy in his pillowcase because it'll be a turd; and it won't be a tiny little raccoon one, but a "famously huge" Drax crap.
Toilet humor really depends on your personal mileage, but I'm going to go ahead and give this clip a thumbs up. It's more of that unique James Gunn flare, and if you're worried that this sequel might be more juvenile, I wouldn't. The rest of what we've seen from Vol. 2 looks equal parts epic and silly, everything we've come to expect from the Guardians ramped up a bit for the second go-around.
Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 picks up a few months after the events of the first film, with the Guardians ready to fight an interdimensional space monster. From there, events spiral out of control as the team deals with a new foe that eventually leads to Star-Lord learning the truth about his parentage. In addition to Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, also returning are Michael Rooker and Karen Gillan with newcomers Pom Klementieff and Kurt Russell.
