If nerdy blockbusters were an ice cream sundae, then easter eggs are the sprinkles. Directors love to hide these little nuggets throughout their films, with some being obvious, and others not so much. Sometimes only diehard fans can spot them, but James Gunn assures that at least one easter egg in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 won't be that hard to spot. Gunn put one right at the beginning of the highly anticipated sequel, and gave some hints as to what it could possibly be.
Tickets for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 are finally on sale, and writer-director James Gunn did an interview with Fandango teasing what's to come for Marvel's big space-faring sequel. Gunn is a pro at putting easter eggs in his film, hiding one in the original so well that it hasn't even been able to be found yet. But at least one easter egg in Guardians 2 won't be that hard to find.
Sounds like this easter egg will reference one of Gunn's past films unrelated to Marvel, which could be pretty much anything. Could it be something from Slither (which already had an easter egg in the first Guardians of the Galaxy)? Maybe the wrench from Super? Scooby-Doo?! I don't know how there could be a Scooby-Doo easter egg, but if Gunn can pull off a Cosmo the Spacedog reference, then I'm sure he could find a way.
James Gunn knows a thing or two about easter eggs. The first Guardians is notorious for having one that is still unfound almost three years later, in addition the myriad which had already been discovered. Gunn has said that he hasn't seen anyone mention the mysterious easter egg, and he's assured fans many times that it does exist- even going so far as to offer his own money should he be proven wrong. The director has gone back and forth on if he'll ever reveal the egg but at least this Guardians 2 one will be easier to find.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2017. It's gonna be a hot release, so check out What We Know So Far about the sequel right here.
