It's not a crazy thing to say that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is one of the most anticipated films of the years. People loved the first movie, and the sequel seems to be firing on all cylinders after some very funny trailers hit the internet. With all that in mind, Marvel has decided to make the make the premiere of Vol. 2 a bit more special with a double feature screening. Check out the details.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn shared the news himself via Facebook, announcing a Guardians of the Galaxy double feature event. Coming only to select theaters, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 will play in RealD3D on Thursday, May 4th beginning at 4:30 p.m. The movies will play one right after the other, meaning viewers will have some four glorious hours of Guardians in their eyeballs. All that Guardians is all well and good, but those who buy tickets will also receive some sweet movie swag. Attendees will get an exclusive poster and a souvenir collectible button set. James Gunn gave a preview of the poster in question in his post above. The background of the poster is great, but I could do without the weirdly photoshopped cast in the front. But, hey, those buttons are probably pretty rad.
Not quite sure if you want to see two movies in a row? Here's the latest trailer from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to help you make up your mind.
If nothing else, this double feature should play very smoothly. Vol. 2 takes place just a few months after the events of the first Guardians of the Galaxy, as the former criminals turned protectors are still settling into their new roles. However, events lead some of them to question their new lot in life, while Star-Lord finally learns the truth about his parentage. The film is written and directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and Kurt Russell.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2017. To learn everything about the space-faring sequel, check out What We Know So Far.
