Romance wasn't exactly front and center in the first film, but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will further explore the "will they, won't they" relationship of Gamora and Star-Lord. There was quite a bit of romantic subtext between the two (which Star-Lord wanted to be just regular text), but the two of them never got together in any official way. They didn't even kiss! Now the sequel will further develop this relationship, but it won't be smooth sailing. According to Zoe Saldana (who plays Gamora), the two get along well, but it isn't quite as simple as that.
CinemaBlend's Sean O'Connell visited the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, where Zoe Saldana spoke about the highly anticipated sequel. Vol. 2 will pick up a few months after the events of the first film, where viewers will find that Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Gamora's relationship has further developed. The two of them are becoming a great team as they fight interdimensional monsters and the like, but as a couple, they're like "oil and vinegar." Sure, they taste good but they don't exactly stick together.
As far as personalities go, Peter Quill and Gamora are basically on the opposite end of the spectrum. Quill is all swagger and bluster, while Gamora is rigid and hyper-competent. It's those disparate personalities that make them such an interesting couple in the first place, but they've got some work to do if they want to get together. It's unclear if the duo will actually form a relationship by the time the sequel ends, but those trailers sure have teased that there will be some major developments between the two.
