Watch Amber Heard Kick Ass In Justice League Training Session
The DC Extended Universe has been growing at an impressively increasing rate. In addition to the slew of pre announced films, the additions of Joss Whedon's Batgirl movie and Gotham City Sirens show that DC is ready to compete with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in regards to scope and amount of films. But with those additions years down the line, the time has come to focus on the next few installments of the DCEU. And while Wonder Woman and Justice League may be the next two blockbusters to hit theaters, the time has come to look forward to James Wan's Aquaman. And one supporting character is training to become a total badass.
Actress Amber Heard will be playing Aquaman's wife Mera in the DCEU. While she'll first debut in Zack Snyder's Justice League, the true meat of the role will come in the Aquaman movie. Heard just shared a video of her training for the film, and she looks like a total badass. Check it out.
I mean, come on. Looks like Mera is going to be tough AF in Aquaman, and I am absolutely here for it.
The above video shows Amber Heard training with 87Eleven action. The production company, which was started by Deadpool 2 director David Leitch, is behind the amazing fight choreography and stunts from films like John Wick, John Wick 2, and the upcoming Charlize Theron led Atomic Blonde. Anyone familiar with the John Wick franchise will know how fantastic, unique, and brutal 87Eleven's fight scenes are, and you can see that style translated in Amber Heard's video.
Overall, this video teases some exciting things for Aquaman. While we already know that Jason Momoa's behemoth Arthur Curry will be doing his fair amount of ass kicking, it now appears that this extends to the supporting cast as well. Considering that the rest of the Justice League will likely be busy with their own adventures, Aquaman is going to need some backup when he battles on both the land and sea. And his main squeeze Mera is exactly the one to do it.
Now I have to wonder if other cast members will be going through similar training. Nicole Kidman recently revealed that director James Wan is why she signed up to play Aquaman's mother. And since she's also from Atlantis and is a queen (literally), perhaps she'll be able to get into the action during the film's runtime. Since Kidman isn't exactly an action star, I'd love to see her step out of her comfort zone and into the fray during the DCEU's aquatic adventure.
Alas, we'll have to wait quite some time before we get any type of answers. You can catch Amber Heard make her DCEU debut in Justice League, which hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
