Dwayne Johnson Has More To Say About His Fate Of The Furious Feud
The feud between The Rock and Vin Diesel that apparently started during the filming of The Fate of the Furious has never completely died down. While recent comments from Vin Diesel tried to play down the issue, The Rock's newest comments aren't completely putting this thing to bed. While Dwayne Johnson appears to be mostly over the anger that led to the initial post that started the fight, he still feels a need to point out that there was a reason the fight started in the first place.
What we have heard from Vin Diesel seemed to imply that the entire feud was blown out of proportion and no big deal, but that's not really what Dwayne Johnson is saying to ET here. It does appear that Johnson has mostly given up the "active" part of the feud, as he realizes there's nothing he can do, due to the two actor's different "fundamental philosophies," but it's clear that whatever Diesel's philosophy is, Dwayne Johnson doesn't really care for it.
While everything is still mostly rumored at this point, the word at the time was that The Rock took issue with how Vin Diesel was handling his role as a producer on The Fate of the Furious. As a producer himself, Dwayne Johnson obviously has his own ways of doing things and whatever reason Diesel's methods frustrated the actor to the point where he vented those frustrations via Instagram. For what it's worth, Johnson hasn't been entirely blameless as much of the cast is apparently annoyed with Johnson for making the post in the first place and making the issue public.
What both actors have done is decided to look past whatever differences they have in order to give their new movie, The Fate of the Furious, the best possible promotion. It's clear neither one of them really wants to talk about the issues between them. The Rock's quote here goes right from his feud response to talking about the movie, in the way any PR rep would love. Dwayne Johnson has been doing this for a while, that's how the game is played.
The Fate of the Furious is on its way to theaters this Friday, you can check out our review here, and there are at least two more films planned in the franchise after that. It will be interesting to see if Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel will truly be able to deal with their fundamental philosophies in such a way to keep working together, as both are currently key parts of the franchise.
