Star Wars Is Giving Away A Role In The Han Solo Movie, A Trip To Skywalker Ranch And More
Star Wars is, very simply, one of the most popular names in all of entertainment. The power that Disney and Lucasfilm have cannot be overstated. Now, as part of a new promotion, fans can get an up-close look at just how big the world of Star Wars really is. For the last few year Lucasfilm has promoted their charity movement A Force for Change, and this year the prizes that are being given away to those that donate are massive. They include a walk-on role in the Han Solo movie, a trip to the red carpet premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and an overnight experience at Skywalker Ranch.
The Force for Change campaign started in the months prior to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens with J.J. Abrams offering a potential winner a chance to appear in the film. Later, a second campaign was run to give fans the chance to attend the film's premiere. This time it seems that Star Wars is going all out as they're making both possibilities realities within the same campaign, and then throwing in a chance to visit Skywalker Ranch all at the same time.
In addition to the major prizes, there are also smaller prizes that people have the opportunity to win. For every $10 you donate through the Omaze website you'll get an entry toward the numerous prizes. Technically, each of these prizes is being given away twice, as each will be available individually, but one lucky grand prize winner will receive all three. This year the charities that will receive the donations include Unicef and the Starlight Children's Foundation.
The Force for Change program has raised millions of dollars over the last several years for numerous charities and it's simply wonderful to see the brand used in such a positive way. The cast members of the Star Wars films have always been more than willing to personally support the cause. You can check out Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamill making the official announcement, and have a bit of fun, in the video below.
2017 marks the 40th-anniversary of the Star Wars franchise and they certainly appear to be pulling out all the stops to make it a big celebration for the fans. We can imagine that if a Star Wars fan is planning to give anything to charity this year, it may very well all go into this campaign. There's nothing wrong with winning something nice for yourself while doing something nice for others.
