7 Huge Questions We Have After Fate Of The Furious
The following contains some major SPOILERS for The Fate of the Furious. Read at your own risk.
The eighth entry in the Fast and Furious franchise hit screens this weekend and, after checking it out, we can't help but have a lot of questions about exactly what this movie means for the franchise, and where things may be going from here. The family is looking very different at the end of the film than they did at the beginning.
Some things in The Fate of the Furious don't make a lot of sense. Other things are simply not explained, possibly meant to be dealt with in future films. We're not sure what's going on, but here are all the big questions we have about The Fate of the Furious.
Are The Shaw Brothers Good Guys Now?
Over the last two films in the series, the Fast and Furious team has had to deal with the Shaw Brothers, Owen (Luke Evans), and Deckard (Jason Statham). However, by the end of the film, both brothers are working alongside the team to take down Cipher. We could chalk up a lot of that to the idea that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" but considering the bond that seems to grow between Deckard and Hobbs, and the way that Deckard and Dom interact at the end, it really feels like these guys are now squarely on the same side. And that would be ok, except...
Is Everybody Just Cool With The Fact Deckard Murdered Han?
It would be one thing if Deckard's vendetta against Dom and team hadn't resulted in any long term consequences. If they could have just let bygones be bygones, that would be fine. But Deckard Shaw straight up murdered one of the people Dom calls family. It's one thing if you're forced to work with him or even if you feel you need to use that person to get what you need, but it's quite another to make friends with the guy. Nobody even brings up the reason they don't want to work with him and eventually it just doesn't seem to matter.
How Did Dom Set Up The Meeting With Magdalene Shaw?
When Dom helps Cipher steal the God's Eye he learns two things, that his team is working with Deckard Shaw., and that Owen Shaw is still alive. This leads him to enlist their mother for aid. Somehow Dom knows, or learns, who the mother is and that she's even in a position to help. He learns where to find her. He makes arrangements with a guy in Cuba and a couple old team members to help. He also outfits his car with a kill switch. And he does all of this under the nose of the world's greatest hacker without her discovering a thing.
Will We See Helen Mirren Again?
It was shortly after Furious 7 debuted when we first the word that Helen Mirren wanted to be part of the Fast and Furious franchise. She got her wish, but she never had a chance to do the one thing that makes the films special, drive a car really fast. She specifically said that was one thing she wanted to do, so we're really hoping that she'll be back in one of the upcoming sequels so that she can have a chance to actually drive. If we're going to keep seeing the other members of the Shaw family, there's at least a decent chance she'll be back.

Who Exactly Is Little Nobody?
Another new member of the Fast and Furious franchise this time around is Scott Eastwood, playing the role that comes to be known as Little Nobody, he's a sort of secret agent in training under the tutelage of Kurt Russell's Mr. Nobody. But the relationship has us curious. Mr. Nobody doesn't really treat his protege as a mere trainee. We have to wonder if Little Nobody is actually Mr. Nobody's son. The interaction would make more sense that way. There certainly seems to be some sort of personal relationship here.
Is Dom Really the Father?
One thing that these movies have actually done really well is deal with their continuity, which is impressive considering the dance they did during three of the films into prequels to Tokyo Drift. However, we're not sure the timing works out in The Fate of the Furious. Elena tells Dom that she discovered she was pregnant at the same time Dom discovered that Letty was still alive, which would have been at the beginning of Fast & Furious 6. However, Mia gives birth at the beginning of the same film and at the beginning of Furious 7, Brian and Mia's son looks to have aged considerably. He's much more than nine months older than Dom's kid. Is Dom really the father, or did Dom and Elena not really call it quits at the end of part six?
Which Henchman had to Change Diapers After Elena Died?
Cipher is a brilliant hacker with a diabolical plan in The Fate of the Furious. However, there appears to be one thing she may not have entirely accounted for, baby poop. When Cipher decides to have Elena killed due to Dom's disobedience, she leaves a baby alone, out of reach of his father, and probably with a diaper full of crap. Surely Cipher's henchmen didn't sign up with her to be on diaper duty, but at least one poor bastard had to end up stuck with that job. What's worse, that guy was probably killed by Jason Statham and didn't get so much as a thank you.
