How John Boyega Really Feels About All The Finn And Poe Fan Fiction
With Rogue One: A Star Wars now very much in the past, the time has come to look forward in the main Star Wars franchise. Star Wars: The Last Jedi will arrive in theaters this December, continuing the story of Luke and Leia, while also further fleshing out newcomers Rey, Finn, and Poe. The latter two, in particular, have much the subject of a great deal of conversation and controversy since the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Some fans view Poe and Finn's relationship as something romantic, and the couple name FinnPoe has come to life- especially in fan fiction. But what does John Boyega think about it?
John Boyega has done quite a few interviews regarding his character's rumored relationship with Oscar Isaac's Poe. Regarding the many shippers, as well as the various frisky fan fictions that have hit the internet, Boyega had this to say to MTV.
I mean, how can you not love John Boyega? He's received unwanted attention and erotic imagery based on his character Finn, but he's taking it all in stride. I guess The Force is strong with this one.
While Finn and Rey certainly seemed to have serious chemistry in The Force Awakens, there were some fans who were far more interested in the Poe/Finn dynamic. The two became fast friends during their escape from Starkiller Base in the film's first act, and their connection was palpable for audiences. Poe went so far as to give Finn his name, since Stormtroopers aren't given them. The pilot also gifted Finn his jacket, which has since become iconic in its own right. The two also shared a knowing look before the Resistance mounted their forces against The First Order.
While fan fiction could have been the extent of the Finn/Poe rumor, Oscar Isaac himself stoked the fires. While appearing on Ellen before the release of The Force Awakens, Isaac revealed that he was playing a very subtle romantic storyline in the film. And since the only two folks Poe came in contact with were Leia and Finn, the rumors just continued to swirl.
You can check out Oscar Isaac's statements below.
Additionally, J.J. Abrams had previously stated that the Star Wars franchise will feature its first LGBT character sometime soon, which gave some hope to the FinnPoe shippers.

Alas, it's probably more likely that Finn and Rey will be the ones romantically involved when Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15th. And with the two characters in different locations when the film starts, perhaps absence will make their hearts grow even fonder.
