Fantastic Beasts 2 Just Added An Important Character To Its Cast
Newt Scamander already has one adventure under his belt, but his days of getting into magical antics involving weird creatures are nowhere near finished. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 is gearing up to begin shooting this summer, which means the sequel is in the middle of casting season. As it turns out, one of the new characters being brought aboard will shed some insight into Newt's family and past, as Green Room actor Callum Turner is being considered to play Newt's brother.
Callum Turner is currently in talks with Warner Bros to join Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2, according to Variety. No details were provided on how exactly this unnamed brother will be involved in the movie, but as the sibling of the main protagonist, one would imagine his role will be decent. If a deal is finalized, Turner will be the second new actor to join the sequel, preceded by Jude Law, who will play Albus Dumbledore. Fantastic Beasts 2 will also see the return of Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queen Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, Ezra Miller as Credence Barebone and Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald. Zoe Kravitz will also make her full debut as Leta Lestrange after cameoing in a photograph in the first Fantastic Beasts movie.
Callum Turner is best known in the United Kingdom for his TV work, having starred in the miniseries' Glue and War & Peace. His other notable credits include Green Room, Queen and Country, Victor Frankenstein, Assassin's Creed, The Borgias and Ripper Street. Appearing in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 would be a major boost for his Hollywood profile, and depending on what happens to Newt Scamander's brother in the sequel, it could potentially mean more appearances in the Fantastic Beasts series.
Details regarding Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 are scarce. The sequel take place in the U.K. and Paris, and it will see Newt Scamander crossing paths with Albus Dumbledore, his former Hogwarts instructor, and Gellert Grindelwald, the man he defeated in New York City in 1926. Beyond that, Warner Bros is keeping information close to the proverbial chest, Both David Yates and J.K. Rowling are reprising the directing and scripting duties, respectively.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 will work its magic in theaters on November 16, 2018, and three other movies are already in development to round out the series.
