The MTV Movie Awards Are Getting Two Brand New Categories
For most of us, The MTV Movie Awards is regarded as the ceremony where its nominees are allowed to turn up in casual attire and then hopefully pick up a prize that they almost certainly try to bite into once they're in private. But this year the ceremony has picked up a bit more interest as it has done away with gender specific actor awards, and instead the Best Actor categories include both women and men. That's not the only change that's going down at the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards, though, as TV is also a prominent part of this year's event and it has now also been announced that two brand new categories are going to be introduced: Best Musical Moment and Trending - Presented by INSTANT.
We've also been made privy to what's been nominated in these categories, too, which gives you a clear indication of what they are all about. So, without further ado, here are the nominations for ...
Best Musical Moment
'Beauty and the Beast' - Ariana Grande and John Legend
'Can't Stop the Feeling' -- Justin Timberlake - Trolls
'How Far I'll Go' - Auli'i Cravalho -- Moana
'City of Stars' - Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone - La La Land
'You Can't Stop' The Beat -- Ensemble - Hairspray Live!

'Be That As It May' - Herizen Guardiola - The Get Down
'You're the One That I Want' -- Ensemble - Grease: Live
You can vote in this category by heading to MTV.com. Clearly it's not just gender barriers that the MTV Movie & TV Awards are trying to break down, because the above even mixes television and movie nominees, too. The same can't really be said for the Trending nominees, which are made up primarily from moments on the small screen. However the (hopefully) rightful winner is arguably the most popular comedic actor working right now, so at least that's a positive for cinema devotees. Here are the nominations ...
Trending
'Sean Spicer Press Conference' feat. Melissa McCarthy - Saturday Night Live
'Lady Gaga Carpool Karaoke' - The Late Late Show with James Corden

Winona Ryder's Winning SAG Awards Reaction - 23rd Annual SAG Awards
As good as Channing Tatum's impression of Beyonce was, we all know that Melissa McCarthy's take on Sean Spicer has been an incredibly funny role this TV season, but it also probably eclipsed anything shown on the big screen, too. You can vote for the winner of this category by heading to Musical.ly. We'll get to find out if the voting public feels the same way about Melissa McCarthy's performance on Saturday Night Live when the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards are held on Sunday May 7, while it will be hosted by the always watchable Adam DeVine.
