Watch A Robot With Dementia In Brand New Transformers: The Last Knight Clip

If there's one thing that the Transformers franchise consistently manages to accomplish (other than delivering great action sequences), it is strong character moments for the titular shape-shifting robots. It is a series that knows how to employ healthy doses of comedy wherever and whenever necessary, and that tradition appears alive and well in Michael Bay's upcoming sequel, Transformers: The Last Knight. In fact, a new clip from the film has just hit the web, and it showcases the franchise's newest awesome Transformer: an aging robot with dementia. Take a look at the full clip.

That clip debuted last night during the MTV Movie & TV Awards, and it promises some great character moments when Transformers: The Last Knight finally debuts in theaters later this summer. It is hard to pinpoint what specifically leads to this sequence, but we clearly see a battered Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) and Bumblebee making their way to the estate of Anthony Hopkins' Sir Edmund Burton. Upon their arrival, a WWI-era tank sitting on the lawn of the property reveals himself to be a Transformer and accidentally fires on the arriving duo -- thinking that he is still on the battlefields of The Great War. It's a great sequence that lines up perfectly with the tone established by Michael Bay's other Transformers movies and seems to guarantee that Bay will maintain a continuity of style in his upcoming fifth installment.

This is obviously an incredibly fun sequence by itself, but it also raises a very specific question: will wee see this aging robot in action during the earlier years of its existence? We already know that Transformers: The Last Knight will feature flashback sequences to various historical periods. Because we're guaranteed to see a sequence that takes place during WWII, it does not seem outside the realm of possibility to imagine that this WWI-era Transformer answered the call of duty to fight some Nazis in what could end up being the coolest possible action scene of all time.

We have seen this WWI tank Transformer in other pieces of promotional material for Transformers: The Last Knight and this clip confirms our longstanding suspicions that he's actually a character in the film. That said, we never would've expected him to be quite so funny, so we're incredibly excited to see what else he will do once the real action sequences kick into high gear. He already seems to have a unique dynamic with Anthony Hopkins (who is as charming as ever in this clip), so this newly released sequence bodes incredibly well for the upcoming Transformers film.

CinemaBlend will bring you more information related to the next installment in the Transformers franchise as more details related to the project become available to us. Transformers: The Last Knight Will hit theaters on June 21, 2017. Here's everything that you need to know about the upcoming sequel before it debuts!
