Deadpool 2 May Be Adding Even More X-Force Characters

Deadpool pointing finger

Following Deadpool's tremendous critical and commercial success early last year, Wade Wilson and his big mouth are returning to the big screen next year for Deadpool 2. While the Merc with the Mouth and his fourth wall-breaking shenanigans will remain the primary focus of the sequel, this movie is also being used to establish the live action X-Force. Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz are debuting as Cable and Domino, respectively, two of Deadpool's X-Force teammates from the comics. Now there's word that three other members from the militant mutant team will appear in Deadpool 2: Sunspot, Feral and Shatterstar.

According to Comicbook.com, 20th Century Fox is currently searching for actors to play Sunspot, Feral and Shatterstar in Deadpool 2. However, unlike Cable and Domino, these three mutants will not have prominent roles in the movie. Instead, they will appear in a "post-credits tag scene" that will tease the X-Force movie further. Of these characters, only Sunspot has previously appeared in an X-Men movie, played by Adam Canto in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Much like how Deadpool's Colossus barely resembles the Colossus in the main X-Men movies, it stands to reason that Deadpool 2 will take creative liberties with their version of Sunspot.

X-Force member Sunspot

Bobby da Costa, a.k.a. Sunspot, was introduced in 1982, and along with his stint on the X-Force, he's also been a member of the regular X-Men team and the New Mutants. His main mutant ability is absorbing solar energy, which subsequently boosts his strength when he's in this "solar form." Sunspot later learned he could also use this energy to fly and shoot concussive blasts. In X-Men: Days of Future Past, he was one of the remaining mutants fighting back against the Sentinels in the apocalyptic timeline.

X-Force member Feral

Maria Callasantos, a.k.a. Feral, debuted in 1991, and in addition to being on the X-Force, she's also been part of X-Corp, the New Hellions, The Morlocks and the Mutant Liberation Front. Feral's abilities included sharp claws and fangs (as the animalistic appearance makes clear), enhanced agility, enhanced senses and a healing factor.

X-Force member Shatterstar

Then there's Gaveedra-Seven, a.k.a. Shatterstar, who first appeared in the same New Mutants issue as Feral. Shatterstar hails from the planet Mojoworld about a century into the future, where he was genetically engineered to be a superior warrior. Upon being sent back to the present day, he ran into Cable and the X-Force, and he joined the team after they assured him they would him overthrow the tyrant Mojo. Besides his enhanced physical capabilities, Shatterstar can also generate shockwaves and open teleportation portals.

Assuming this report is true, moviegoers will want to keep an eye out for Sunspot, Feral and Shatterstar once the Deadpool 2 credits finish rolling, and then they'll fully jump into action whenever X-Force is released. While we wait for more news on how that movie is progressing, Deadpool 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 1, 2018.
