There are lots of big movies coming out this summer, but not many of them match the style and craziness of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Everything from the production design to the weird aliens shows that this movie is going for broke in bringing the original graphic novel to life. If you've really been digging what the movie has been putting out so far, then you better get your calendar because the final trailer for Valerian is dropping very soon. As is the trend these days, the date was announced via a small teaser, which you can view below.
The new trailer for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is expected to arrive on Wednesday, May 24. The accompanying teaser obviously offers the bare minimum in terms of footage, none of which seems to be new, but still offers more looks into this bonkers world that Luc Besson is bringing to life. First of all, it goes without saying that the movie looks beautiful. The different settings are brimming with color, and everything really pops. This feels like it could be a really divisive movie (which is tough to predict) but at least everyone can agree that the photography is on point.
In terms of actual events in the teaser, it doesn't look like it's offering too much that's new. We see more of the strange aliens like the gray fish-eyed one going about their business as well as some cute little alien critters. We also see more of Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laurelin (Cara Delevingne) being chased by some sort of monster, their guns at the ready.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is the latest sci-fi film from Luc Besson, the director behind The Fifth Element. Based on the french sci-fi comic series Valérian and Laureline, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets follows two special operatives in the 28th century who are charged with keeping order in the human territories of space. The two are assigned to protect Alpha, a huge sprawling metropolis where a thousand different species live together to share knowledge and culture. However, a dark force lies in the center of Alpha that not only threatens every life in the city but the universe as well. Joining Dane Dehaan and Cara Delevigne in the cast are Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, Herbie Hancock, Kris Wu, and Rutger Hauer.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is set to hit theaters this summer on July 21, 2017. To keep up to date on every movie coming to theaters, make sure to pay a visit to our 2017 movie schedule to help you better plan put your summer.
