New Thor: Ragnarok Photo Shows Off Hulk’s Sweet Sakaar Digs
It's been two years since we last saw The Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he'll finally jump back into action this fall in Thor: Ragnarok as one of the gladiators on Sakaar. We still haven't learned yet how the Green Goliath ended up on that planet, but he's become one of the top champions fighting in the ring. The way Grandmaster introduced him in the first Thor: Ragnarok trailer made that clear enough, and thanks to a new photo, we now know that The Hulk's prestige comes with impressive accommodations for when he's not roaring and swinging that hammer.
The Queensland Art Gallery in Australia just opened an exhibit called Marvel: Creating the Cinematic Universe, which is filled with more than 500 objects and set pieces from the MCU. Among the many items on display is the above bed (photos from Twitter user Liam Burke), which is where Hulk rests during his time off. The sheets and pillows are nice enough, but it's that bed frame that really catches the eye, as it was once the jaw of a slain monster. There's no confirmation yet on if Hulk was the one who slayed the beast. In any case, that bed is perfect for the most notorious rage monster in the Marvel universe. You can't just have him sleep in something from IKEA! He deserves the best of the best.
Seeing that bed raises an important question: what's Bruce Banner's status on Sakaar? Since Mark Ruffalo is appearing in Thor: Ragnarok, we'll definitely see the human half of this modern day Jekyll and Hyde, but has Hulk even transformed back into Banner during his time on Sakaar? With a bed like that, it seems like Grandmaster and his flunkies are primarily concerned with keeping Hulk satisfied outside of the gladiator ring. One can only imagine how Banner reverting back to normal and finding himself sleeping in a bed with teeth surrounding him. Thor: Ragnarok will ideally answer all our questions about how Bruce Banner/Hulk found himself in this unusual circumstances after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Following up on his cameo in Doctor Strange, Thor: Ragnarok will see Thor Odinson battling Hela and preventing her from unleashing Ragnarok, which would destroy all of Asgardian civilization. Before he can properly deal with her, though, he'll find himself stranded on Sakaar, overseen by Grandmaster, and be forced to survive a gladiator duel against The Hulk without his hammer Mjolnir and his gloriously long hair. Along with the return of Loki, Odin, Heimdall and Doctor Strange, Thor: Ragnarok will also introduce Valkyrie, Skurge and Surtur.
Thor: Ragnarok storms into theaters on November 3. Both Thor and Hulk will also return next year for Avengers: Infinity War.
